A brief history

The annual Chicago race followed the Official Boston race in 1897. It started in 1904 which continued in the mid-to late 1920s without a pun intended. Initially the Chicago Daily News sponsored the project and received strong support. The turbulent events of the 1920s forced the city to abandon the campaign, which was to cease before 1976 was over. The marathon had, however, changed shape. As a big city marathon that ran through five cities, Chicago faced increased pressure to perform. Download our FREE book for running injury-free.

Despite that slow start, marathons have steadily increased popularity. It has become a major marathon event worldwide. Let’s go back and see the way the marathon began.

What makes it unique?

Although the first-ever Tokyo Marathon had less attendees than planned, it remained an impressive race. This topic will bring runners, volunteers, and spectator groups together during the race. Terrain wise, the Tokyo Marathon is mostly flat with fewer hilly hills. The hardest part of the route is the 180° turn which stops participants.

Boston Marathon

The Boston Marathon was one of the largest events worldwide. The first race began in 1897, more than 100 years after marathon runners entered the public. Today, a race is considered a top-notch racing event.
