Last race of the year was the Sanyo Ladies Half Marathon in Okayama, Japan. Loved it and stoked with a new PB of 69:20 and 2nd place. Thanks for having me @wataruogushiiii @melbtrackclub and big thanks to my coach @romeothemoose (who broke 30 mins last night) and @steigensport for the support. Excited to come back to Japan for more races in 2019 🇯🇵
The listener question comes in from AFL superstar, Kane Cornes about threshold and tempo pace and MOTL about lack of athletics coverage.
Sophie Ryan is this week’s guest and chats with Brady about mixing it with the best in women’s Australian distance running. Bouncing back from her disappointment at the Gold Coast Marathon, she talks about how she wound up picking Valencia Marathon and getting in through the personal best program, recapping the race and training, talking with her support network and relationship with coach and running legend Steve Jones culminating in her new personal best of 2:42. She delves into a bit more of detail about her time in Boulder and training under Steve Jones’s philosophy.
Sophie then takes it back to the beginning, doing different sports and being invited by her father to go out running and finding her passion in cross country and the wider impact that running has on mental and physical health, as well as the impact that high training loads has on menstrual cycle health. Sophie is also a practitioner at Fitzroy Foot & Ankle Clinic which you can find out more at www.fitzpod.com/
