Australian athletics great Sally Pearson has officially announced her retirement from the sport effective immediately.
Brandon Starc is well on the way to being back to his best as he cleared 2.30m and won the men’s high jump at the Birmingham Diamond League.

Nike has shut down the Nike Oregon Project distance group on Thursday, October 10 2019. The Project was establihsed by Nike in 2001 to support long and middle distance running in America. Nike's co-founder, Phil Knight, always took a keen interest in the Project and was instrumental in its ongoing funding.

Jessica Hull has unofficially broken the Australian Indoor 1500m record at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, running 4:04.14 to take out the race. Meanwhile, in New York, the 2019 Australian 5000m champion, Jordan Gusman, has qualified for the world indoor titles.  Gusman, from the elite squad, Tinman Elite, clocked 7:49 at the Dr Sanders Invitational in New York City, just inside the world championship qualifier (7:50). 
Athletics Australia, World Athletics, Oceania Athletics, and Queensland Athletics are very pleased to announce that the 2020 edition of the Queensland Track Classic, 20 March 2020, will join the World Athletics Continental Tour as a Silver level permit meet.
March’s World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China have been postponed to 2021, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in the host nation. World Athletics made the announcement about the biennial championships on Wednesday, citing safety concerns.
After a prolonged wait, World Athletics won’t be banning Nike's controversial carbon-infused Vaporfly Next% road racing shoes.  Instead, the governing body will look to temporarily tighten regulations regarding footwear in the lead up to Tokyo 2020.
