Five Australians have travelled to Monaco for the Monaco Diamond League. To be held on Friday August 14, it is traditionally one of the highlights of the track and field calendar. With the majority of the season cancelled due to Covid-19, Monaco looks to provide the world’s best with a rare shot of elite competition.
Jessica Hull, the former Oregon Duck, former NCAA 1500 champ, and current Australian 5000m title holder, has broken the 18-year-old Australian 5000m record clocking 14:43.80, at the Monaco Diamond League.
Australian Ollie Hoare has won his second race in as many weeks. Having recently signed with the young and rapidly growing sneaker company 'ON', Hoeare Kicked off his debut as a pro with a win and a 3:34.64 1500m at the 2020 Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville.  It was the fastest 1500m in the US state of Tennessee's history . It also would have been an Olympic qualifying time, however the qualifying period has been frozen, meaning the run will not count for Tokyo 2021.
alented West Australian Matthew Ramsden has moved to the very top of the world one mile list for 2020. Posting a 3:51.23 in Milan Italy, Ramsden beat home Yemaneberhan Crippa (3:52.08), and Australian 1500m record holder Ryan Gregson (3:52.38).  All three place getters were faster than the previous world leading time, ran by another Australian, Ollie Hoare, August 29, at the South Carolina Trackfest in Columbia.
Max Burgin, an U20 runner from Yorkshire, England, has lowered his UK U20 record, in Trafford England, to 1:44.75.
The men to beat in global 800m running has cut his season short, thanks to a nagging case of Plantar Fasciits in his right foot. The 23 year old American 800m specialist has won 10 races in a row, including most recently the Monaco Diamond League (1:43.15WL) and Stockholm Diamond League events (1:43.76).
Joshua Cheptegei, the hottest property in global endurance running, hopes to create another magical moment in his rising career as he plans an assault on the world 10,000m record at the NN Valencia World Record Day on Wednesday October 7 at Turia Stadium in Valencia, Spain.
Emma Coburn is America's best female steeplechaser of all-time. Winning gold at the 2017 World Athletics Championships, Coburn is the first American to do so. Nic Bideau's Melbourne Track Club athletes have had another strong hit out in Europe. At the Ostrava Golden Spike meet, Bideau had four of his charges competing in what is considered one of the most prestigious events of the year.
The two-time Olympic 800m champion, Castor Semenya, has lost her legal appeal against track and field rules that limit female runners' naturally high testosterone levels, it was announced Tuesday.
