Jordan Wiilamsz Euro insight

Time period in Europe?
I spent a total of 6 weeks in europe
Base whilst in Europe?
I was based in Mannheim, Germany for the first 10 days with the under 20 tour. The next month was spent in Teddington just outside of London.
What races do you target and how did they go?
I had 5 races while in Europe, two on the Junior tour and three when I was with the other Melbourne Track Club athletes.
The race results were:
Hessen Junior Meet 800, 1st 1.48.38
Mannheim Junior Gala Germany 1500, 1st 3.43.42
Delogu Memorial Sardinia 800, 4th 1.49.29
Savo Games Finland 800, 4th 1.47.34
Joensuu Games Finland 1500, 4th 3.40.96
Most enjoyable experience?
Just hanging out with the guys was the best experience of Europe. Going out for coffees, shopping in Kingston and the Arms on a Monday night. Also the time spent in Finland was quite a rollercoaster but an incredible experience.
What was the lowest point?
At one stage at Park road I got rather sick, food poisoning kept me out of action for a few days.
Lessons learnt during this European Experience?
I learnt much whilst abroad. One of the most important lessons I learnt was that there is no substitute for good mileage, it really is the key to competing at your best. By living with guys like Jeff Riseley, Greggo (Ryan Gregson), Collis Birmingham and Benny (St Lawrence) you really get to see how professional athletes compose themselves, and it now gives me some idea of what it takes to compete at that level.
